History
Minami-Yoshida Station opened on 10 June 1965 on the Japanese National Railways' Echigo Line, situated 47.8 kilometres from the line's terminus at Kashiwazaki. Control passed to JR East at the 1 April 1987 privatisation of JNR. A new station building was completed in March 2000. The station has a single ground-level side platform serving one bi-directional track and is unattended. Suica farecards cannot be used at this station, distinguishing it from many of its neighbours on the Echigo and Yahiko lines that joined the JR East IC area in 2008. It sits within the city of Tsubame, Niigata Prefecture, near Tsubame City Hall.
