History
Izumozaki Station opened on 28 December 1912 on the Echigo Line, today operated by JR East. A new station building was completed in 1981, and the cargo-handling centre closed in 1987. With the privatisation of JNR on 1 April 1987 the station came under JR East control. The station has two opposed ground-level side platforms connected by a footbridge, a Midori no Madoguchi staffed ticket office, but does not accept Suica.
