History

Gōdo Station opened on 28 October 1941 as the terminus of the Tadami Line's westward extension from Aizu-Yanaizu, handling both passengers and parcels at opening. It now stands in the town of Yanaizu in Fukushima Prefecture on JR East's Tadami Line. Parcel handling ended on 29 August 1971 and the station was unstaffed at the same time. JR East took over with the 1 April 1987 privatization of Japanese National Railways. The single side platform serves one bi-directional track, and a small capsule-shaped waiting shelter sits on the platform; the station is managed remotely from Aizu-Wakamatsu.
