History
Takiya Station opened on 28 October 1941 as a fully equipped (general) station on the Tadami Line. Freight and parcel handling ended on 29 August 1971 and the station was destaffed; staffing for tablet exchange continued, however, and as a result the Okutadami express also stopped there. The station passed to JR East on 1 April 1987, and the current station building was rebuilt in March 2001.

Notes
The current waiting shelter sits on what used to be a separate freight platform; the freight track that fed the platform is still in place even though the station became destaffed in 1971.
