History

Sukagawa Station opened on 1887-07-16 with the inauguration of Nippon Railway service through the area, sitting 215.1 kilometres north of Tokyo on what is now the Tōhoku Main Line. JR East took over at JNR privatisation on 1987-04-01. The station serves the city of Sukagawa in central Fukushima Prefecture and is the closest rail access for the city centre, Midorigaoka Park, and the Sukagawa Botan Garden. The current platform layout consists of two opposed side platforms with a staffed Midori no Madoguchi ticket office. Local trains call approximately hourly during the day in both directions along the Tōhoku corridor.
