History

Uonuma-Tanaka Station opened on 1 March 1951 as a temporary halt operated by the Japanese National Railways, established along with the nearby Kamijō and Kakinoki halts on the initial western section of the Tadami Line between Koide and Ōshirakawa. It was promoted to a full station on 1 October of the same year. Following the privatisation of the JNR on 1 April 1987 the station was absorbed into the East Japan Railway Company network. The station today consists of a single ground-level side platform serving one bi-directional track, located in Uonuma, Niigata Prefecture, and is unattended. A small waiting shelter on the platform shares the same exterior design as the contemporary structures at Kamijō and Kakinoki.
