History
Echigo-Hirose Station opened on 1 November 1942 as an intermediate stop on the initial western segment of the Tadami Line between Koide and Ōshirakawa, then operated by the Japanese Government Railways. Freight handling ended in 1976 and parcel handling in 1984, after which the station was downgraded to a contracted operation and then made unstaffed in 1985. With the privatization of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987 it passed to JR East. The station now consists of a single side platform serving one bidirectional track; an earlier passing siding has been removed, and the modest station building functions as a waiting room only.
