History
Noto-Nakajima Station opened on 31 October 1928 when the Ministry of Railways extended the Nanao Line from Wakura (now Wakuraonsen) to here, becoming an intermediate station in August 1932 when the line was pushed on to Anamizu. Freight handling ended in November 1971 and parcels in February 1984. With the 1987 JNR privatization the station passed to JR West, and on 1 September 1991 the Wakuraonsen-Wajima section was separated from JR West into the third-sector Noto Railway. Station business was contracted out in April 1999. Today the building hosts the "Eki Marche" local-goods stall and a preserved Yū 10-2565 postal car alongside the station.

Notes
Beside the platform stands a preserved Yū 10-2565 postal car relocated here from the former Kabuto Station on the closed Noto Line, and the station's nickname "Engeki Roman Eki" (Theatrical Romance Station) references the nearby Noto Engekidō playhouse.
