History
Chikatsu Station opened on 11 November 1932 on what is now the JR East Suigun Line in Tanagura, Fukushima. Freight handling ended on 20 November 1962, and the station became unstaffed on 1 October 1970 when baggage operations stopped, although a local shop continued to sell tickets under a simple commission until 1995. The former station-master's office was converted to a track-maintenance crew room in November 1975, and the present station building was rebuilt in 1997. With the privatisation of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987 the station joined JR East. The platform that once served the now-removed passing track remains in place.
