History

Yanagibashi Station is a passing station on the Kurobe Gorge Railway Main Line in Funami, Unazuki-machi, Kurobe City, Toyama Prefecture. It opened on 16 November 1953 after the Kansai Electric Power Company obtained a local railway licence to operate the line that had previously served the utility's hydroelectric construction. When Kurobe Gorge Railway was established as a separate operator on 4 May 1971, the station was transferred to the new company, which began operations on 1 July 1971. The station is restricted to Kansai Electric Power staff and is not open to general passengers.

Notes

A short branch line runs from the station to Kansai Electric Power's Shin-Yanagigawara hydroelectric plant, whose European castle-styled exterior is a landmark of the gorge. The 1面2線 island platform is unfurnished, used solely for train crossings.
