History

Asahigaoka Station opened on 10 April 1948 as an intermediate stop on the Toyama Chihō Railway between Jitetsu-Takaoka (now Takaoka) and Fushiki-kō. It was transferred to Kaetsunō Railway on 1 April 1959 and to the current operator, Manyōsen, on 1 April 2002. From 1 May 2020 the stop carries the sponsored nickname "Hidamari-no-Yu Asahigaoka" under a naming-rights agreement with Kōyō Kōsan.

Notes

Until 2004 the stop had a level crossing with the private industrial railway serving the Nippon Zeon Takaoka plant and the Nippon Soda Takaoka plant; the tram tracks crossed the factory line at grade.
