History

Nishi-Namerikawa Station opened on 25 June 1913 as part of the Tateyama Light Railway between Namerikawa and Gohyakkoku, and at first carried the name Nishi-Namerikawa. It was renamed Mizuhashiguchi Station in 1921, and passed in 1931 to Toyama Electric Railway after the merger of Tateyama Railway. In 1943 it became part of Toyama Chihō Railway under the wartime consolidation of Toyama prefectural transport. On 2 October 1958 the station reverted to its original name. The unattended ground-level station has a single side platform; a staff member is posted from 7:00 to 8:30 on weekdays to handle commuters from neighbouring Namerikawa High School. It sits 19.8 kilometres from the starting point of the Toyama Chihō Main Line at Dentetsu-Toyama.
