Hirokōji (Toyama)

広小路

History

Hirokōji is a tram stop on the Takaoka Kidō Line of the Manyōsen interurban tramway, located in Awara-machi and Honmaru-chō, Takaoka, Toyama Prefecture. It opened on 10 April 1948 as Awaramachi (湶町) Stop when Toyama Chihō Railway extended its Jitetsu-Takaoka–Fushikikō line, and was renamed Hirokōji on 7 May 1958. The line was transferred to Kaetsunō Railway on 1 April 1959 and, when that operator divested its rail business, to the Manyōsen Co., Ltd. on 1 April 2002. A switch on the Takaoka-side of the stop marks the boundary between the single-track section toward Takaoka Station and the double-track section toward Koshinokata.

Notes

The stop has two staggered side platforms on either side of an intersection, with the Takaoka-bound platform south of the crossroads and the Koshinokata-bound platform to the north. JR West's Etchū-Nakagawa Station on the Himi Line is about 800 m east of the stop.
