History

Kamijō Station opened on 28 April 1927 on the Nagano Electric Railway (Naga-Den) Nagano Line. It was destaffed on 30 December 1970. During Yudanaka Station's major renovation between 1 and 30 September 2006, Yudanaka-bound trains terminated at Kamijō and buses bridged the final 1.4 km. From 13 February 2011 the station was removed from the limited "B Express" stopping pattern. The station has only a side platform serving one track and no longer has a ticket machine — only a simple waiting shelter remains.

Notes

The station's rural location, surrounded by apple orchards along the Yomase River, makes it one of the quieter stops on the line; it lies just 1.4 km from the line's Yudanaka terminus.
