History

Kataharamachi Station opened on 10 April 1948 with the opening of the Toyama Chihō Railway between Jitetsu-Takaoka (now Takaoka) and Fushiki-kō. It was transferred to Kaetsunō Railway on 1 April 1959 and to the current Manyōsen on 1 April 2002. A sub-name, "Yamachōsuji Iriguchi" (Entrance to Yamachōsuji), was added on 1 November 2005 in recognition of its proximity to the Yamachōsuji preservation district.

Notes

The station serves the Yamachōsuji historic district — a row of preserved Edo- and Meiji-period merchant houses designated as a national Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings — and on the annual Takaoka Mikurumayama Festival (held 1 May), trams between Takaoka and Kataharamachi are suspended.
