History

Kamasusaka Station opened on 11 February 1923 on the Tōhoku Main Line in what is now the city of Sakura, Tochigi Prefecture, and is operated by the East Japan Railway Company (JR East). It is served by the Utsunomiya Line section of the line and lies 131.6 kilometres from the line's starting point at Tokyo. With the privatisation of the Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987 the station came under JR East. The station has two island platforms connected to the station building by a footbridge, but only one side of each platform is in current use, and the station is unattended.
