History

Etchū-Ebara Station opened on 7 November 1931 on the Toyama Chihō Railway Main Line under the original name Shimamura Station (島村駅). After a brief redesignation as Shimamura-teishajō on 18 July 1945, the station was renamed Etchū-Ebara on 21 September 1945. Located in Toyama city, it lies 4.7 km from the line's starting point at Dentetsu-Toyama and has remained on the same private interurban line throughout its history. The station building was relocated to its present site in 1968 and rebuilt again in March 2010 at a cost of about 70 million yen, with a new wood-faced structure roughly 1.5 times the floor area of the previous one.
