History
Higashi-Shinjō Station opened on 15 August 1931 with the launch of Toyama Electric Railway's Toyama Jichihō Station – Kamiichiguchi (now Kamiichi) section. The 1943 prefectural transport consolidation absorbed the operator into Toyama Chihō Railway, and Higashi-Shinjō became a station on its Main Line. In July 2020 a local train running from Kamiichi toward Dentetsu-Toyama derailed roughly 80 metres from the station, drawing attention to track maintenance on the section. The station has two opposed side platforms serving two ground-level tracks and an IC-card-only fare gate for the operator's ecomyca card. It is staffed during weekdays and sits 3.6 kilometres from the Main Line's starting point at Dentetsu-Toyama.
