History
Ujiie Station opened on 25 February 1897 when Nippon Railway rerouted its Utsunomiya–Yaita section through the site. The Kitsuregawa horse-tramway connected briefly between 1902 and 1918. The line was nationalised on 1 November 1906, became part of the Tōhoku Main Line in 1909, and the station building was rebuilt in March 1938. With the privatisation of JNR on 1 April 1987 it passed to JR East. Suica accepted from 16 October 2004; the Midori no Madoguchi staffed-ticket office closed on 19 February 2016 and the station became fully automatic-gate-free in 2025 when simple Suica gates replaced the old hardware.
