History
Minami-Toyama Station opened on 6 December 1914 as Horikawa Station on what is now the Toyama Chihō Railway Fujikoshi Line, and was renamed Minami-Toyama on 25 April 1921. It serves as the junction with the Kamidaki Line and also the terminus of Line 2 of the Toyama City Tram, making it one of the central transfer points on the privately operated Toyama suburban network. The station is 3.3 kilometres from the start of the Fujikoshi Line at Inarimachi. It is staffed and provides a ground-level island platform for the suburban services plus two opposed tram platforms, only one of which is in service.
