Shitadan Station opened on 26 December 1936 on what is now the Toyama Chihō Railway Tateyama Line, in the town of Tateyama in Toyama Prefecture. The station is 5.7 kilometres from the line origin at Terada. It has a single ground-level side platform serving one bi-directional track and is unattended.
