History

Nunoichi Station opened on 25 April 1921 as a station of the Toyama Prefectural Railway in what is now the city of Toyama. It became a Toyama Chihō Railway station through the 1 January 1943 merger and is now part of the Kamitaki Line, 3.2 kilometres from the line origin at Minami-Toyama. The station building was rebuilt on 1 September 1977. The station has a single side platform serving one bi-directional track and is unattended. In fiscal 2019 it averaged 124 boarding passengers per day; congestion eased after the 2003 opening of nearby Kosugi Station drew off some Toyama Minami High School and Toyama Kōsen commuters.
