History
Minami-Kamishiro Station opened on 5 December 1942 on the Ōito Line in the village of Hakuba, Kitaazumi District, Nagano Prefecture. The station passed to JR East on 1 April 1987 with the privatisation of Japanese National Railways. It has a single ground-level side platform serving one bi-directional track, sits 52.8 kilometres from the line terminus at Matsumoto, and is unattended.
