History

Tsūdō Station opened on 31 December 1912 as a station of the Ashio Railway in what is now the city of Nikkō, Tochigi Prefecture, and chiefly served the Ashio Copper Mine, five minutes away on foot. The line is now operated by the third-sector Watarase Keikoku Railway, and the station has a single side platform serving traffic in both directions. In 2009 the national government granted the station building and platform protection as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property.
