History

Nogamihara Station opened on 19 November 1956 as a passenger-only unstaffed halt of Japanese National Railways, located on the Suigun Line in what is now the city of Hitachiōmiya. It passed to JR East at the 1 April 1987 privatisation of JNR. The station has a single side platform serving traffic in both directions, with no dedicated station building; a sheltered, walled bench provides waiting passengers with shelter. It is managed remotely from the Suigun Line operations centre at Hitachi-Daigo, and stands at the 32.5-kilometre point of the line from its starting point at Mito.
