History
Chigaki Station opened on 20 April 1923 as the terminus of the Toyama Prefectural Railway. It became a through station on 1 October 1937 when the line was extended to the now-closed Awasuno Station. The 1.4-kilometre Chigaki-Awasuno section was transferred to Nihon Hassoden on 1 June 1942 in connection with wartime electric-power consolidation, and the whole route passed to Toyama Chihō Railway on 1 January 1943, becoming part of the present Tateyama Line. The station was unstaffed from 1 August 1997. It is an unstaffed surface halt with a single side platform and a wooden station building, carrying the station number T53.
