History
Kurobeko Station is a funicular station of Tateyama Kurobe Kankō in Tateyama, Toyama Prefecture, sitting on the left bank of Lake Kurobe along the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route. Construction began on 2 November 1965, and the station opened on 20 July 1969 as the line terminus on the Kurobe Cable Car. The platforms and ticket gates are entirely inside a tunnel under the lake-side topography; passengers connecting to the Kansai Electric Power electric-bus station on the opposite bank cross on foot across the Kurobe Dam crest. The station is the easternmost rail-law-registered or tramway-law-registered station in Toyama Prefecture.
