History
Onogami-Onsen Station opened on 14 March 1992 as the newest station on the Agatsuma Line, built at the request of local residents in what is now Shibukawa, Gunma Prefecture. Before the station opened, nearby Agatsuma Line users had relied on the next-door Onogami Station. The Kusatsu (now Kusatsu-Shima) limited express called at the station until a timetable revision on 4 March 2017, after which all such services bypass it. The station joined the Tokyo metropolitan suburban zone on 1 October 2014. It is now an unstaffed surface stop with a single side platform serving one track and is managed from Nakanojō Station; previously the station was operated under simplified consignment with daytime staff.
