History
Otomaru Station opened on 2 March 1935 as Awata Station on what is now the Hokuriku Railroad Ishikawa Line. It was renamed Otomaru by April 1963, taking its current name from the neighbourhood it serves in Kanazawa. A nearby halt called Sanjugari, which stood about 300 metres further towards Tsurugi and had opened on 17 August 1927, has long since been closed. The station has a single side platform serving one bi-directional track, is unstaffed, and is numbered I09.
