History
Motojuku Station opened on 29 March 1989 with the transfer of JR East's Ashio Line to Watarase Keikoku Railway. The stop was newly built at the conversion as a community-requested station — residents around the present site had previously had to walk to the more distant Kamikanbai or Mizunuma stations to catch the JNR Ashio Line.

Notes
Motojuku is also used as the nearest station to Nashiki Onsen, a small hot-spring lodge a short walk from the platform.
