History
Azumi-Kutsukake Station opened on 2 November 1915 in the city of Omachi, Nagano Prefecture, originally bearing the name Tokiwa-Kutsukake Station. The station was renamed to its present form on 1 June 1937. With the 1 April 1987 privatisation of the Japanese National Railways, operation passed to JR East. The station today is an unstaffed wayside stop on the Oito Line, 28.6 km from the terminus at Matsumoto, with a single side platform serving a bi-directional track. The station building was remodelled in 2007.
