History

Tennōjuku Station was opened as a signal stop on 10 March 1938 on the Jōmō Electric Railway's Jōmō Line, ten years after the line itself entered service. It was later upgraded to a full passenger station on 6 December 1957. The station sits in the Aioi district of Kiryū, Gunma Prefecture, 22.8 kilometres from the line's western terminus at Chūō-Maebashi. It has remained an unattended halt with a single island platform throughout its history, serving a small residential catchment that includes the Kiryū Aioi Post Office and the former Aioi village hall, now preserved as the Kiryū Meiji-kan.
