History
Katakai Station opened on 10 November 1928 as part of the Jōmō Electric Railway's original Jōmō Line. It is located in Nishi-Katakai-machi 1-chōme, Maebashi, Gunma Prefecture, 2.2 kilometres from the line's western terminus at Chūō-Maebashi. The station consists of a single side platform serving traffic in both directions and is unattended. On 27 March 2021 a new east-side entrance opened, with the ribbon-cutting ceremony conducted by three members of the student council of Gunma Prefectural Maebashi High School, which lies adjacent to the station and is the principal source of its daily passenger traffic.
