History
Mitsumata Station opened on 10 November 1928 as a signal stop on the Jōmō Electric Railway's Jōmō Line in what is now Maebashi, Gunma. On 25 August 1956 the stop was relocated 300 m towards Nishi-Kiryū and upgraded to a full station. In October 1986 freight operations ended; until that date the station yard held a depot of the Nippon Oil Company (now ENEOS).
