History
Nakane Station opened on 16 July 1931 as a stop on the Minato Railway, which was absorbed by Ibaraki Kōtsū in the wartime consolidation of 1 August 1944. A passing loop and side track were added in 1960 to permit train crossings, but the side track and station building were removed in 1971. On 1 April 2008 the Minato Line passed to the third-sector Hitachinaka Seaside Railway, which still operates the unstaffed station. A single side platform with a small shelter serves both directions.
