History
Hiraiso Station opened on 3 September 1924 as a stop on the Minato Railway in present-day Hitachinaka, Ibaraki. After wartime consolidation it became part of Ibaraki Kōtsū in 1944, and on 1 April 2008 it passed to the third-sector Hitachinaka Seaside Railway, which still operates it on the 14.3 km Minato Line. The station has a single side platform serving traffic in both directions, with the station building integrated into a local supermarket. It was modernised in 2011 with new toilets and step-free access. Average daily boardings in fiscal 2011 were 144.
