History
Minami-Takasaki Station opened on 9 September 1935 on the Jōshin Line in Takasaki, Gunma Prefecture, originally under the name Shimowada Station. It was renamed Minami-Takasaki on 15 January 1953, reflecting its position roughly one kilometre south of the line's Takasaki terminus. The Jōshin Dentetsu (Jōshin Electric Railway) has operated the station throughout its history. The halt became fully unstaffed on 1 May 1988, and today consists of a single side platform with no station building; the structure resembling a station house is in fact a toilet.

Notes
The building that looks like a station house at Minami-Takasaki is actually a public toilet; the line through here once included a freight siding to a nearby cement plant, removed when freight operations ended.
