History
Gunma-Fujioka Station opened on 1 July 1931 with the through-running of the Hachikō Line between Kodama and Kuragano, handling both passenger and freight traffic on behalf of the national railway. Freight operations ended in October 1980 and small-parcel handling in February 1984. The station passed to East Japan Railway Company at the 1987 privatisation of Japanese National Railways, gained Suica acceptance on 8 February 2002, and lost its staffed Midori no Madoguchi window in March 2006. From June 2013 day-to-day operation was transferred to JR East Station Services under Takasaki Station's area management.

The station building keeps a tile roof, and its entrance is fitted with an onigawara ridge-end tile produced as a local specialty of Fujioka.
