History

Nishi-Matsumoto Station is in Matsumoto, Nagano Prefecture, operated by Alpico Kōtsū on its Kamikōchi Line, 0.4 kilometres from the Matsumoto terminus and numbered AK-02. An earlier station of the same name opened in 1922 at what is now Nagisa Station; the present station is the second to bear it, opened on 1 May 1927 at the request of local residents, on which date the first Nishi-Matsumoto was renamed Nagisa. The operator was renamed Matsumoto Electric Railway in 1932 and Alpico Kōtsū in 2011. The station closed in October 1946 and reopened in May 1948. The single side platform has a covered waiting area; the station is unattended, and Suica is planned for spring 2027.
