History
Sōdō Station opened on 1 November 1913 as a station on the Jōsō Railroad and lies in Shimotsuma, Ibaraki, 33.0 km from the line's starting point at Toride. The Jōsō Railroad became part of Jōsō-Tsukuba Railway on 30 March 1945, then of Kantō Railway on 1 June 1965. The station building was rebuilt in July 1967 and replaced again in the 2000s. PASMO went live on 14 March 2009 and the station was destaffed full-time on 16 September 2021. The station has two opposed side platforms linked by a level crossing.
