History

Higuchi Station opened on 14 September 1911 on the Chichibu Main Line, operated by the private Chichibu Railway. Located in the town of Nagatoro, Saitama Prefecture, it lies 42.1 km from the line's eastern terminus at Hanyū. The station has a single island platform serving two tracks, plus an additional bidirectional track adjacent for use by freight services — a hallmark of the line's long-standing limestone and cement haulage. Space constraints have forced the station building onto the platform itself. PASMO IC card acceptance began on 12 March 2022, on which date the station was simultaneously destaffed; before that the station had been a contracted-operator post under Yorii.
