History
Ishige Station opened on 1 November 1913 with the inauguration of the privately owned Jōsō Railroad. The line passed through several operators — Jōsō-Tsukuba Railway from 30 March 1945, and Kantō Railway from 1 June 1965. The current station building was rebuilt in October 1991 under a regional-revitalisation programme. PASMO IC card acceptance began on 14 March 2009. Staffing was progressively reduced from 2010, and the station went fully unattended on 11 September 2021. In September 2015 the station was damaged by the Jōsō floods and took roughly a month to recover. Two opposed side platforms are linked to the building by both a level crossing and a footbridge.
