History
Taiyō Station opened on 14 March 1985 with the inauguration of the Ōarai Kashima Line, operated by third-sector Kashima Rinkai Railway. Located in the town of Hokota, Ibaraki Prefecture, it lies 39.0 km from the official starting point at Mito. The station has no building and is unattended, with a single island platform connected to the surrounding road and parking lot by footbridges. The station name reflects the former Taiyō Village, whose offices remain nearby as a Hokota City branch facility, and the area is also home to Ohayō Dairy Products' Kanto factory and the Kunugi-no-Mori sports park.
