History
Managashi Station opened on 11 March 1919 as a passenger-only stop on the Saku Railway between Haguroshita and Koumi stations, initially designated a Managashi halt. The Saku Railway was nationalised on 1 September 1934 and the stop was incorporated into the Ministry of Railways' Koumi North Line (later the Koumi Line) under its current name. Services were suspended in November 1944, then reinstated on 1 March 1952 as a new station between Koumi and Takaiwa. With the breakup and privatisation of Japanese National Railways on 1 April 1987 it passed to East Japan Railway Company. The station remains unstaffed with a single side platform.

Notes
The station name refers to the Higashi-Managashi district on the east bank of the Chikuma River; the original Managashi settlement on the west bank is actually nearer to Koumi Station.
