History

Echizen-Nonaka Station was first set up as a temporary halt on 15 August 1950, then established permanently on 10 September 1950 at the petition of the village mayors of Kamishihi, Jōhōji and Kitago. It was destaffed on 1 November 1978. Operations halted with the rest of the Echizen Main Line after the head-on collision of 24 June 2001. The facilities were transferred to Echizen Railway on 1 February 2003 and the station reopened on 19 October 2003 with the resumption of Eiheijiguchi - Katsuyama services on the new Katsuyama Eiheiji Line. The station has no building, only a single side platform with a shelter and toilet.

Notes

The Kuzuryū River bank just beyond Route 416 north of the station is a noted spot for ayu (sweetfish) angling, and the station is often used by anglers as their access point.
