History

Nikkakagaku-Mae Station opened on 1 September 2007 at the petition of local residents on Echizen Railway's Mikuni Awara Line, 3.6 kilometres from Fukuiguchi. The station took its name from chemicals manufacturer Nicca Chemical, which purchased ten-year naming rights for six million yen — the first sale of station naming rights in Fukui Prefecture. Employees of Nicca Chemical chose the name through an in-house survey. On 27 March 2016, through running with Fukui Railway's Fukubu Line began and a new low-floor section was added to the platform. The station is unstaffed with a single side platform.

Notes

A small variable message sign on the platform warns approaching passengers by flashing the message "the train is coming" set to the tune of "Mary Had a Little Lamb".
