History
Rokujō Station opened on 15 December 1960, the day the Japanese National Railways Etsumi-Hoku Line was extended through Fukui to Katsuhara, in what is today the city of Fukui in Fukui Prefecture. The station passed to JR West on 1 April 1987 at the privatisation of JNR. Today it is signed as part of the Kuzuryū Line (the Etsumi-Hoku Line's nickname), 2.3 kilometres from the line's start at Echizen-Hanandō. The station consists of a single ground-level side platform with no station building, only a small shelter at one end; it is unstaffed and has no ticket machines.
