History

Seimei Station is an unstaffed single-platform stop on the Fukui Railway Fukubu Line at Imaichi-chō, Fukui City, Fukui Prefecture, with station number F14. Construction was decided in 2008 at a statutory consultation between Fukui Railway and the city, public briefings were held in October 2009, and the station opened on 20 March 2011. A grand-opening ceremony had been scheduled for that day but was cancelled after the 11 March 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake; nonetheless, the first 200 visitors received commemorative items including day passes. On 8–20 November 2019, Fukui Bank and the Fukui Shimbun jointly piloted IC-card payment using the JURACA electronic-money platform at this station and Fukui Castle-Daimyōchō Station.

Notes

The construction-period name was "Imaichi Station", but Fukui Railway put the choice to a residents' vote between three candidates — Seimei, Shimo-Arai and Imaichi — and Seimei was selected. The 40 m platform layout is shared with Taichō-no-Sato Station, which opened the same day.
