History

Sanjūhassha Station opened on 5 June 1927 as a new station on the Fukubu Electric Railway. Some references date the opening to 1 July 1935 instead. On 5 July 1935 the platform was relocated 600 metres towards the Echizen-Takefu end. The 1945 merger that formed Fukui Railway made the station part of the company's Fukubu Line. Station staff were withdrawn on 12 October 1972, and the building beside the Fukui-bound platform — though preserved — has not been in active use since. The station, numbered F10, marks Fukui city's southernmost and westernmost station; while the building stands within Fukui, the platforms straddle the city boundary with adjoining Sabae.

Notes

Although the station building stands within Fukui city — making it the city's southernmost and westernmost stop — its platforms straddle the boundary with neighbouring Sabae city.
