History

Higashi-Miyahara Station opened on 1983-12-22 with the start of the Saitama New Urban Transit Ina Line (New Shuttle), with station code NS04. On 2001-05-01, after the merger of Urawa, Ōmiya and Yono, the address was updated to Saitama City, and on 2003-04-01, when Saitama City became a designated city, it became Saitama City Kita-ku. It is an elevated station with two side platforms and two tracks, with the Tōhoku and Jōetsu Shinkansen viaduct between them; the ticket gates are at the Uchijuku end. The Suica IC card became usable on 2007-03-18. The station sits at the eastern edge of Miyahara-chō in Kita-ku, around 800 m east of JR East's Miyahara Station on the Takasaki Line; substitute transport between the two stations is sometimes arranged when the Takasaki Line is suspended.

Notes

Whenever the JR Takasaki Line halts, Higashi-Miyahara — about 800 metres east of JR Miyahara Station — is the designated alternate route, with substitute transport arranged between the two stations on foot or by bus.
